A STORM IS COMING
Most artists are misunderstood. That's a given! Paul Gaugin moved to Tahiti, disgusted with his life in France. Vincent Van Gogh cut off his ear in protest, while Beatrix Potter moved from London to the Lake District, far from the madding crowd and judgmental eyes of British society, where she wrote many of her best novels.
"A Storm is Coming" has been brewing for many years. We moved to Spring Lake much as Marjorie Kinnan Rawlings had moved to Cross Creek years before, in order to create an environment where we could write and live. Our artistic lives began in London and Washington DC respectively.
The Battersby's The Battersby Duo wrote A Storm is Coming under their
band name Cross Creek.

The songs on "A Storm is Coming" range from Blues to Folk Rock with a little bit of Country thrown in for good measure. The Old Man is a metaphor for my English roots, while The Almighty Dollar and Uncle Sam talk to the economic meltdown our world has experienced since 9/11. Relections of a Major is a song of loss and war, while The English Teacher is a distinct nod to literacy
This collection can in no way be described as a commercial venture, but for those of you who know us as The Battersby Duo this album is a temporary departure from the wacky songs we are best known for.
A Storm is Coming was recorded at Big Tree Studios near Spring Lake Florida, using a Korg D3200 digital workstation, a Tascam 2488 digital recorder and a pair of Rode NTK microphone
